            NEW CLASSES FOR 2024

Mixed Media Techniques

for Creating Textural, Contemporary Art.

I am so excited to announce that my signature one-day course,

Mixed Media Techniques, is not only returning after a five year break,

it’s now a two-day course as I’ve added even more content!

Whether you're new to mixed media and just taking your first steps,
or an established artist looking to refresh or explore new art techniques,
this course is designed with you in mind.

WHAT TO EXPECT....

DAY ONE

We’ll start by learning how to create successful colour combinations, painting our own charts and swatches, which we’ll use as inspiration for the foundation layers of our artwork.

Then we'll explore how to add layers, using collage and printing techniques to give depth and textural detail. We'll experiment with making simple stencils and masks that will add definition and focus to your background colours and patterns.

DAY TWO

Here you will have the choice to continue to work with the samples from day one, practicing with the different elements of colour, collage, stencilling and printing, which can become the start of your own Creative Techniques Resource Book. Or, if you prefer, you can focus on creating a larger, finished artwork, using the techniques learned throughout day one. If you have enough time, you could even do both!

BY THE END OF THE COURSE...

Not only will you feel more confident in how you choose and use colours in your art,  you’ll have gained skills in making your own stencils and masks, learned how to utilise patterned rollers and sponges, and how to use ordinary objects for printing and mark making.

Many of the materials and tools will be provided. These include specific paint supplies that you’ll use throughout the course (and then take home with you).

In addition, it would be useful if you brought a sketchbook that can become your resource book of ideas, which you can keep on adding to in your own time, so you can refer to it again and again. I will also send you suggestions of other optional supplies you may want to bring.
